#Understanding notifications in Light
Light notifies you about important events related to your work, such as tasks requiring your attention, approval requests, and updates to documents you're involved with. Notifications appear within the Light application as part of your workflow.
#Web app notifications
You can configure push notifications within the Light web app to stay updated on events that involve you. To manage your web app notification preferences:
- Go to
- In the Notifications section, click Web app
- In the dialog that opens, configure your preferences:
- Enable push notifications: Turn web app push notifications on or off
- Test notifications: Send yourself a test notification to confirm it works
- Bill approvals: Toggle notifications for approval requests, reminders, and payment batch approvals
- Card transactions: Toggle notifications for authorizations and declines
- Reimbursements: Toggle notifications for reimbursement updates (rejections, setup required, status changes)
- Tasks: Toggle notifications for task updates and rejected requests
- Click Save to apply your changes
Good to know: Web app notifications are separate from the Slack integration. You can use both to stay informed through different channels.
#Slack integration
Light integrates with Slack to deliver notifications to your team's Slack workspace. To configure the Slack integration:
- Go to
- Find the Slack integration
- Follow the setup instructions to connect your Slack workspace
- Once connected, Light can send notifications to designated Slack channels
Good to know: The page also includes connections for HubSpot and Banks, but Slack is the primary channel for team notifications.
#Profile settings
Your profile contains personal settings that affect how you interact with Light:
- Go to
- The profile page includes tabs for:
- Contact Information: Your personal contact details
- Notifications: Your web app notification preferences (see Web app notifications above)
- User settings: General user preferences
- Reimbursement details: Your reimbursement configuration
- Organization details: Information about your organization

- Connect the Slack integration to keep your team informed of important events in real time
- Use the "Test notifications" button to verify your web app push notifications are working
- Check the Integrations page periodically to ensure your connections remain active
