Integrating Slack with Light

Learn how to connect Slack with Light so employees can submit receipts and interact with Light directly from Slack, including prerequisites, setup steps, and access rules.

 

Getting Started with the Slack Integration

The Slack integration allows employees to interact with Light directly from Slack, making it easier to submit receipts and manage expenses without leaving their daily workflow.

Before You Start

The Slack integration must be completed by a Slack workspace owner in your company.

If the workspace owner is outside of Finance, you can either:

  • Temporarily make them an admin in Light to perform this action, or

  • Request to be added as a Slack workspace owner for the setup


Integration steps:

  1. In the Light platform, go to Settings → Integrations.

  1. Click Add new integration → Slack.

  1. Follow the prompts to authorize the connection.

 

Access and usage

After the integration is complete:

  • All employees in your Slack workspace will see the Light app icon.

  • However, only employees who are registered as users in Light will be able to submit receipts and interact with the app.
