HMRC Connection (UK) and VAT return submission

Learn how to connect your UK entity in Light to HMRC and how to submit VAT returns directly through Light.

 

 

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure:

  • You have an active UK entity set up in Light

  • You have valid HMRC Government Gateway credentials

 

Step 1 – Connect Light to HMRC

  1. In Light, go to Settings → Integrations → Add Integration → HMRC.

  2. Select the UK entity you wish to connect.

  3. You will be redirected to the HMRC login page.

  4. Enter your HMRC credentials to authorize the connection.

  5. Once completed, Light will sync with HMRC for VAT submissions.

Step 2 – Submit a VAT Return

  1. Navigate to Reports → VAT Report (UK).

  2. Select File with HMRC.

  3. Choose the reporting period.

  4. Submit the VAT return directly through Light.
